The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) enlisted BioVisions to create a comprehensive Master Plan for Black Beauty Ranch (BBR), one of the nation’s largest and most diverse animal sanctuaries. In Texas, BBR provides a permanent home for over 800 domestic and exotic animals rescued from cruelty and neglect, including those from research labs, roadside zoos, factory farms, and government equine round-ups.

Recognizing the sanctuary’s growth and evolving needs, HSUS sought an objective assessment of BBR’s current programs and operations and a forward-looking strategy to ensure a thriving future aligned with the HSUS mission. The plan addressed immediate needs like animal care and veterinary services while laying the groundwork for transformative growth.

The planning process included workshops, e-conferences, and site visits, blending collaboration with strategic vision. The six featured pages offer a glimpse of the 48-page Master Plan, including the title and introduction, Executive Summary, a graphic alignment of BBR’s operations with HSUS’s goals, and visual concepts for new facilities.
